The darkness crosses your face,
and your eyes cry out for release,
the pain is so visible,
and yet, I can't touch it at all.

I want to take hold of it,
and make it leave you be.
But it holds you tighter then I can
and hurts you more deeply then I feel.

How can I help,
how can I share,
in this eternal torment,
you keep so tightly locked up,
within yourself.

So I stand by,
helpless and afraid,
wanting to help,
and feeling useless.
